As part of the commemoration of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of the Bigorski Monastery, another significant document will soon see the light of day. It is a documentary film about the existence of the Bigorski Monastery, its endured hardships, and survival.
“With the blessing of the Abbot of the Bigorski Sacred Monastery, Bishop Antanisian Partenij, on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the foundation of our ten-century spiritual beacon, a professional team led by director Ilija Iko Karov has been preparing a documentary film titled ‘1000 Years Witness of the Light’ for the past two and a half years,” said Sister Efimija. She adds that the film not only marks the great jubilee but also captures the spiritual monastic continuity through centuries of a whole millennium. In honor of the jubilee, two days ago, the book “The Eternal Beacon” by Professor Dr. Vera Stojčevska-Antić was promoted, inspired by and dedicated, as the author herself said, to the revivalist of this thousand-year sanctuary, Bishop Mr. Partenij. “The author follows his tireless feat in the spiritual building of the Sanctuary in an inspired way, through examples of monastic daily life, which she herself had the opportunity to experience during numerous visits to the monastery, as well as personal statements from the brothers and sisters,” emphasizes Sister Efimija.
Last week, the monastery hosted a scientific conference “On the Paths of Dicho Zograf,” a Macedonian iconographer, representative of the Debar school. He is one of the most famous icon and fresco painters in the Balkans in the 19th century.
